Online or digital advertising is an umbrella term for various types of advertising a company may do online. From Facebook to Google to all kinds of advertising many don’t even realise exists.
Online Advertisements are a great way for those with a larger marketing budget to acquire new customers, bring back old customers and re-engage people at any point in the buyer’s journey.
Comparatively speaking, digital advertising is the cheapest, and most traceable way to advertise your services.
For example, the average cost to reach 1,000 viewers on television is $36 (just over £29). That’s without even factoring the costs of actually producing the advert. Compare this with an average of less than £6 per 1,000 impressions on Facebook, and it’s not a hard decision to make.
Especially considering you can pick and choose exactly the kind of person your ad is shown to online.
Search advertising is often referred to as Pay-per-click (PPC). These advertisements are those that appear at the top of a Google search result (or other search engine).
This is often a starting point for products or services online advertising because of something called user intent – meaning that the user of the platform is actively looking for your specific service.
Social media advertising has skyrocketed in popularity and for good reason – Everyone has their eyeballs on at least one of these platforms.
If a website, or platform has hundreds of thousands of people on it, you can bet your customers are on it too.
Display advertising is like the digital equivalent of a billboard. It’s fairly cheap, and is usually used to remarket to people who have previously visited your website.
They’re like reminders or gentle nudges, for those who might not have taken the plunge and given you a call.
There are many other methods of online advertising that we couldn’t possibly cover them all here.
To name a few, there are sponsorship’s, in-app ads, video advertising and many more ways in which a business can advertise online.
